Meredith Sands / Ziyang Wu

Meredith Sands received her MFA in 2016 from Columbia University, her BFA from School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and previously had studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art.  In addition to her studies, she attended residencies at Ox-Bow, Saugatuck, Michigan and at Giorgio Upiglio, Milan, Italy.  She has participated in numerous exhibitions, including solo exhibitions at Thomas Masters Gallery and University Club, both in Chicago, and group exhibitions at Stairway Studios and Thomas Masters Gallery in Chicago and Judith Charles Gallery in New York.


Originally from Xuzhou, Jiangsu, China, Ziyang Wu received his MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and his BFA from the Florence Academy of Fine Art in Italy. Since then his art practice has been focused on what Henri LeFebvre termed micro-alienation within contemporary Chinese society through a combination of video, painting, installation and performance. Wu has shown his work internationally in China, USA, and Europe including exhibitions at the Providence Biennial for Contemporary Art, at the Academy Art Museum in Maryland, at Milan Design week and at Medici Palace in Florence, Italy. In July 2016, Nancy Margolis Gallery featured his work in the RISD Thesis exhibition. Wu is currently a visiting professor at Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
