WILLEM ANDERSSON, Stockholm, Sweden, works with graphite and paint on canvas, paper, and wood. Andersson’s surreal, meticulously rendered scenes of untamed landscapes, billowing clouds of smoke, and anonymous portraits are sometimes haunting and often sardonic. Still, Andersson’s ambiguities leave viewers to unravel or interpret the stories on their own. Andersson graduated from Stockholms Universitet, Sweden, and also attended Idun Loven School of Arts, Stockholm, Forsberg School of Graphics, Stockholm, and Parsons Paris School of Design. He has exhibited in many cities throughout the world including Stockholm, Rome, Copenhagen, and Turin. Andersson had his first solo show with Nancy Margolis Gallery, Is the house still on fire, in October 2012.
