Born in Manitoba, Canada, Lachlan Hinwood received a B.A. in Geography and Art from Macalester College, and an M.F.A. in Painting and Drawing from the University of Iowa. His intimately-sized paintings meditate on quietness, color, and a transcendental relationship to the landscape. Place is a central theme in Hinwood's practice, and his paintings often begin from observational sketches. Hinwood has been featured in solo and group exhibitions across the country as well as abroad, including recent shows in London and Barcelona.
Ben Cowan earned a B.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an M.F.A. from Indiana University. In addition to his career as a painter, he has worked in the studio of Jeff Koons and presently as a Scenic Artist for motion pictures; both roles have increased Cowan’s resolve for refined painting techniques, experimentation with process, and a keen eye for illusions. His work has been exhibited throughout the U.S., including New York City’s 550 Gallery and The Painting Center. Cowan has been featured in The Wall Street Journal and The Brooklyn Review, among other esteemed publications, and his paintings reside in private and public collections including The University of Scranton, Ann Arbor District Library in Michigan, and The Racquet Club of Chicago.
